I scanned the menu and honestly, it all looked great. All entrees are served with soup and an egg roll. Nothing major, but would be a great addition for a citrus kick. I got the Shrimp Pad See Ew and the Chicken Pad Thai. It was a bit too spicy for me as it turned out, but still I forged ahead. My husband and I sneak here for lunch without the kids. My spouse was working over the weekend.
The spring rolls were also some of the best we've ever had! However the food was delicious. Their cooking is too inconsistent. To start you off they give you complimentary soup of the day and a fried egg roll. The sauce was quite good -- thin and flavorful. I've gone with their curry, sautéed entrees, and salads, and all are delicious.
The Salmon was cooked a bit too long. For us this soup was probably the most off. I liked that the pad thai had the bean sprouts on the side, for the option of adding it into the noodles. I can eat food with mid hot spice. The service has been consistent, there when needed, otherwise soft-spoken waitress that is nice and attentive.
I had the garlic and black pepper chicken with vegetables and white rice. For flavor, make it hot and enjoy this known food. Hope the Old Soong Thai comes back. All 3 happen to be my most recommended Thai restaurants in the north Brooklyn area, but Song is my favorite. It was pretty empty and they were setting up for a large group. The heavy brown sauce tasted fine, but the rice noodles were soggy and lacked the char flavor from pan frying, the char flavor that really highlights what Rad Nah is from other Thai noodle dishes.
Also, they make things spicy and flavorful. Restaurant that serves more than food. Both were fresh and delicious, very authentic! We don't just get the pad thai and pad see ew which are both very good, by the way. Their attention to detail didn't go unnoticed! Long story short, the food was too salty again. The ambiance is quaint and intimate, definitely great for date night or even a first date. She was worried for me but it really wasn't that hot. Fern grows in a moderate family.
Tired of mediocre Thai food, we went out of our way to try a different establishment. As for the food, recommended to order is shrimp pad thai. My family and I visited Soong Thai last week for a late lunch. You can slice it with your fork and listen for the crisp. Just pieces of paper as placemats.
Although it's in a strip mall, the food was, hands down, one of the best Thai places I've ever eaten at. I'd be happy to come back if the service weren't so bad. If our party wasn't so big, I would have loved to sit on the patio. Soong Thai is centrally located and easy to find off highway 50. The drinks were more on the sweeter side and were presented with a real orchid flower on the brim of the glass.

The only downsides were the rice was soggy, noodles were broken, and small portions on the dishes that come with seafood. Usually ordering Thai with three children can be challenging.
Last time, the pad thai was sweeter and more drenched in sauce than I remember it usually. The duck meat was a large portion and it was so tender and hearty. I used to order take out from here at least 2-3 times a week. It was dim, and decorated in a way that felt comfortable. It's good for ordering take out or eating their in person for lunch or dinner. The cashew nut dish is incredible! With my nose running and eyes tearing, I still ate most of it. They had five levels of spice heat and I went with medium.
